Broken Arrow was formed in 1902 and named for the Muscogee Creek settlement of Native Americans who were forced from their homes during the Trail of Tears and brought to what is today Oklahoma. From statehood forward Broken Arrow would be a driving force in Oklahoma's history. From electing the first female mayor in not only Broken Arrow but Oklahoma in 1931 to hosting the longest-running festival in Oklahoma of Rooster Days and being home to the award-winning downtown area of the Rose District, Broken Arrow is a town blooming with opportunity.
